Time Synchronization Design for Integrated Positioning and Georeferencing Systems

More and more surveying companies are embracing digital technologies such as CCD cameras and LiDAR for aerial photogrammetric mapping and imaging applications. In this trend, direct georeferencing plays a crucial role. The obvious benefits of direct georeferencing are reductions in the requirements for aerial triangulation and ground control points, both of which account for a significant cost in survey work. In the case of direct georeferencing, accuracy is of the greatest concern, since it has a decisive influence on the quality of the subsequent digital imaging products. The level of accuracy and reliability of direct georeferencing also influences the degree to which ground control points can be eliminated.
